Wolseley UK is aware of its responsibilities towards the enviroment and is committed to environmental protection on a local and global scale.  The company is committed to the continual improvemnt of its environmental performance.
Wolseley UK recognises that our customers are also increasingly aware of their own environmental responsibilities and have a desire to work in partnership with organisations that are serious about environmental issues.
Wolseley UK has engaged in the Chain of Custody scheme for our Build Center brand, as well as achieving BS EN ISO 14001 accreditation as part of our commitment to the continual improvement of our environmental performance, and to satisfy our customers demands for more environmentally sound materials.

Chain of Custody Certification

Chain of Custody certification provides documented evidence that certified products originate from certifed, well managed forests, and verifies that these products are not mixed from uncertified forests at any point in the supply chain, except under very strict controls when a percentage claim is being made.
Wolseley UK has held multi-site Chain of Custody certification for our Bild Center brand since January 2004, and all Build Center and Timber Center branches are now able to offer a choice of around 4000 products with Forest Stewardship Council(FSC) or Programme for the endorsment of Forest Certification(PEFC).  The PEFC certification also incorporates the CSA & SFI schemes.  These products include; sawn and machined softwood, plywood, particleboard, fibreboard, MDF mouldings, manufactured joinery products, engineered wood products, flooring, garden products, kitchen units, worktops, bedroom and bathrom furniture, hand tools, as well as hardwoods and special products to order.

The Chain of Custody programme aims to generate a continuous increase in certified stock of all products.   Our Chain of Custody certification registrations are:

Sustainability and the SBC

The construction industry has a massive responability to reduce its environmental impact through increaded use of sustainable and ethically sourced products.

As part of Wolseley UK's overall commitment to the environment and sustainability, it has developed a Cororate Responsibility Policy.  The policy details a number of key iniatives we are a part of, in particular, the construction of the Sustainable Building Center(SBC).

Wolseley is able to offer customers a range of sustainable products that are available to help meet the increasing demand from consumers and pressure through goverment legislation.

The Sustainable Building Center (SBC)

The SBC is an award winning and market leading showcase for renewable and sustainable materials located near our Head Office in Leamington Spa.  Constantly updated with the latest technologies, the building is a live example of sustainable products in operation.

The building includes a 40-seat Lecture Theatre where various product seminars are held throughout the year.  The facilities are also available to hire providing an ideal location to hold your company events and identify ways in which you can provide sustainable solutions to your own customers.
